Ramova Theatre (3520 S. Halsted St.), a historic Bridgeport movie theater co-owned by celebs Chance the Rapper, Jennifer Hudson and Quincy Jones, makes a triumphant return with its first public event on New Year’s Eve. The theater was established in the 1920s and has recently been transformed into a music venue holding 1,500 guests. On Dec. 31, Ramova will host legendary queer party Slo ‘Mo’s Pleasure Palace NYE event, featuring a cabaret style show with a live jazz band and performances to create an exciting speakeasy environment.

“We wanted to evoke a Chicago decade that was so iconic for music and dance,” says Kristen Kaza, producer of Slo ‘Mo party. “You'll feel like you've been dropped into a jazz joint with all the opulence and razzle dazzle the roaring twenties are known for, but we're putting femmes center stage. If you loved the musical Chicago, you're going to live for Pleasure Palace.”

Says director of programming and creative for Ramova, Kyle LaValley, “Featuring Slo ‘Mo as one of our inaugural events at Ramova is an intentional choice to feature Chicago LGBTQ+ artists and the incredible contributions they have made to our city’s cultural landscape and history.”
