THE COUPLE Hinge played matchmaker for Kara Donovan and Max Schmaren, who on their first date bonded over a puzzle and their love for Chicago sports and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. When Max popped the question on a romantic skyline boat tour on Lake Michigan, Kara humbly responded with, “Thank you!”
THE DETAILS Kara’s dream was to follow in her mom’s footsteps and have her wedding ceremony at Holy Name Cathedral, so that’s where they held their interfaith Catholic-Jewish nuptials. As Max stomped the glass and lifted his wife’s hand in the air, the cathedral erupted with cheers and applause.
THE PARTY The bride’s love of Disney was infused in little details throughout the day, such as paper lanterns in hurricane glass magically illuminating the ballroom with the pattern from Tangled. The fairy-tale feeling was further enhanced with elegant and eyecatching colorful floral arrangements.
Bridesmaids wore Jenny Yoo.
The invitation suite featured a vibrant floral envelope liner.
Custom cake toppers mimicked Carl and Ellie’s chairs from Up.
“The white vinyl dance floor and the stage surround bursting with drool-worthy florals were the cherries on top of the design,” says planner Katy Krantz.
