Carrying your personal style into the digital world is no longer a fantasy—especially if you play Roblox.
With 43.2 daily users, Roblox is one of the biggest online gaming platforms in the world, mainly because it allows users to program their own games and play those created by other users. Even more so, the platform offers a wide range of avatar customization, including fashionable upgrades that mirror real life.
The gaming platform has already collaborated with big-time clothing companies from designer Tommy Hilfiger to Forever 21. Now, according to a report by Glossy, Roblox announced its newest collaboration with two-year-old digital fashion brand Dress X.
A total of 12 items will be specifically made for the platform, making Dress X the first retailer to use a new layered clothing feature in Roblox. The feature allows users to mix and match digital fashion styles, whereas before certain garments and accessories were limited to a few characters and restricted to a 2D look.
This isn’t the only digital innovation from Dress X. Outside of Roblox, the digital fashion brand carries 3D clothing from well-known contemporary brands, bridging the gap between the digital and real world. Customers can virtually try-on garments through the Dress X app and wear their pieces on Zoom, Instagram and other digital platforms.
Digital garments from the Roblox collection include anything from casual sweatshirts to special occasion pieces. There’s also a special collection featuring the work of artist Katsushika Hokusai.
This stepping stone in technology gives Roblox users more advanced options in the gaming platform, developing the already skyrocketed system with more things to brag about. The creation of layered garments was formed to fit the millions of avatars and newcomers to the game every day. Roblox configured the layered component so items may fit any character, from a T-Rex to a classic humanoid. Users can also create their own custom clothes to match with name brand apparel.
Though it launched in 2006, Roblox gained immense popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Roblox has already made significant steps in its digital fashion collaborations. As the platform continues to look to the future, bo doubt its digital innovations will take steps to blend real-life with the digital space, making a fully-fledged and thriving Metaverse only a hop, skip and jump away.
