Calling all live music lovers. A new festival is coming to Bridgeview, bringing a lineup of Americana, psych-rock, jam bands, indie, soul, funk and bluegrass.
From the founders of Chicago’s very-own North Coast Music Festival, as well as Summer Camp Music Festival in Chillicothe, and Suwannee Hulaween in Florida; Sacred Rose is a three-day festival that aims to celebrate the Windy City’s rich musical culture with a diverse list of headliners, and it’s coming to the Seatgeek Stadium Campus Friday to Sunday, Aug. 26 to 28.
Headliners include a wide range of sounds, from former Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh & Friends to Houston psych-groovers Khruangbin, Philly rockers The War on Drugs, and Grammy-nominated psych-soul band Black Pumas.
Indiana jam-banders Umphrey’s McGee, indie psychedelic favorites Animal Collective and Grateful Dead cover band Joe Russo’s Almost Dead bring extra depth, plus performances from jam band Goose, heady electronic act STS9, Greensky Bluegrass and the award-winning saxophonist Kamasi Washington. The trippy styles span a myriad of genres and influences, because founder Michael Berg has built the festival lineup in memory of his own musical grandfather’s hippie roots. Even the name “Sacred Rose” is a nod of his grandfather’s professional piano-playing past.
“In 2018 when we shifted North Coast from a multi-genre festival to a fully-electronic music event, we started dreaming up Sacred Rose and what it could mean for fans of Americana, Psych-rock, Jam, Indie, Soul, Funk and Bluegrass,” Berg states in a press release.“Sacred Rose is the first festival of its kind in our area, and we’re so proud to deliver a special experience for our fans who have been patiently waiting for a lineup like this for a long time.”
The event will take place across seven AstroTurf fields and come to life with interactive art installations, local food vendors and more.
Weekend and single day passes go on sale Monday, March 21, at 12 p.m. CST and can be purchased at sacredrosefest.com. Follow Sacred Rose on Instagram for the latest updates, and to check out the official daily lineups and set time, so you can schedule the perfect day of music and fun.
