Aditi wore red in Hindu tradition, and paired it with green jewelry. Instead of the traditional beige, Aditya opted for a green ensemble to coordinate with the bride.

RIVIERA MAYA, MEXICO
Aditya Kuroodi asked Aditi Gupta to junior prom with a custom fortune cookie—and 10 years later, that’s exactly how he proposed, in a hotel suite in San Francisco. “There were candles at the door with a fortune cookie on display,” Aditi remembers. “It said, ‘Meet me on the balcony.’ I walked through the suite, heard our favorite song playing, and there were lit-up letters that said ‘Marry Me?’”
The pair tied the knot with a three-day celebration in Mexico that fused aspects of their Indian-American heritage. They welcomed 150 loved ones to sister resorts Generations and El Dorado in Riviera Maya and put unexpected twists on tradition, like turning their haldi ceremony into a pool party with water guns.
The highlight, however, was the ceremony. With guests gathered on the beach, Aditya and his family danced their way to the aisle in a fun-filled baraat, and the bride and groom donned stunning attire custom-made in India. “One of my favorite moments was walking down the aisle to Aditya,” Aditi says. “I was buzzing from nervousness, excitement and disbelief, but as soon as I locked eyes with him, I felt so happy and couldn’t wait to marry him.”
The party then moved to another part of the beach for an outdoor wedding reception. “It was the perfect little cove with a gazebo in the corner,” Aditi says. “We knew it would make a memorable night under the stars.” The reception was a more laid-back, traditionally American celebration with speeches and a churro cart for dessert.
The bride was overcome with joy and emotion. “I went on a bit of a rant during my wedding speech and definitely went over time,” she admits with a laugh. “But I got to thank everyone in my life and tell each group how much they mean to me. It’s something I have always wanted to do, and it meant so much to speak from my heart. I’ll always keep that memory close.”
