The lodge’s interior, designed by Chicago-based Aria Group Architects, embodies a sense of hygge, the Danish phrase that expresses coziness and contentment. White shiplap walls, natural oak and bespoke furnishings abound in a sleek, contemporary design, paying homage to the area’s rich Scandinavian heritage. The juxtaposed big-city-meets-quaint-village feel is especially evident in the hotel’s signature Dörr Suite, which features a feathery king-size bed with Matouk linens, a spacious sitting area and an expansive private balcony overlooking picturesque Sister Bay. Grand cathedral ceilings, local artwork by Bruce Basch, and black tile and white quartz bathrooms add additional touches of glamour.
