The spirit of a city is made up of a combination of the people and places that call it home. Drawing inspiration from its past, present and future. For former Chicago Bears defensive end, Israel Idonije, the spirit of Chicago is found in its people.
“The spirit of Chicago is rooted in connectedness and togetherness — to the community, to the work, to the city,” said Israel. “If you are a dreamer, an innovator or a builder, Chicago fosters growth and is supportive of what you are working to accomplish.”
It’s that growth and support that has inspired Israel’s work post-football and the founding of FBRK Impact House and RSTR. FBRK (pronounced ‘fabric’) is the city’s first philanthropy center, providing 40,000 square feet of space for the city's top non-profit organizations and leaders. RSTR (pronounced ‘restore’) is a fitness studio that is focused on the connection between body and mind.
We met up with Israel at FBRK to explore the Longines Spirit collection. A collection that celebrates the same entrepreneurial and exploratory spirit that he fosters in Chicago.
In its latest collection, Swiss watchmaker, Longines, pulls from the adventure-seekers and pioneers who came before. Aptly named The Longines Spirit collection, the timepieces are inspired by names like Amelia Earhart and Howard Hughes; and feature Longines’ signature elegant style with modern-day tech we’ve come to love. With a design that truly stand the test of time, the Longines Spirit collection highlights the best of the best for the brand.
“The spirit of adventure is about the approach one has to life. For those with that approach, it’s an adventure,” said Israel. “When you walk through an open door you don’t always know the outcome, but you're focused and prepared to give it your all. Despite any fear, you must be ready to take that first step.”
