Before a sold-out crowd of 400 business and civic leaders, Claire Danes was honored at the Steppenwolf Salutes Women in the Arts fundraiser, an exciting platform that acknowledges the accomplishments of female artists.

The afternoon began with a VIP reception followed by welcoming remarks from Steppenwolf board chair Nora Daley and Artistic Director Anna D. Shapiro. Chicago’s first lady, Amy Rule, and Illinois’ first lady, Diana Rauner, also made an appearance at the luncheon that raised $200,000 to support the theater’s professional development programs.

Danes engaged in a lively conversation with Steppenwolf ensemble member and fellow Homeland actor Tracy Letts. The two discussed her incredible career, which includes performances alongside Steppenwolf co-founder Jeff Perry and ensemble member Tom Irwin, as well as her impact on the arts. -Photography by Daniel Ribar
