Q1: What is your best advice for engaged couples?
Have fun! This is your chance to share your love and joy with the people who mean the most to you. It's not about the optics; it’s about celebrating your next big step together. Trust the process, trust us, and relax into your big day. We've done this more times than you can imagine, and our greatest joy is making your day unforgettable.
Q2: What do you think is essential for any wedding?
Chemistry. A seamless wedding is built on strong relationships—not only between you and your vendors but also between all the vendors themselves. We pride ourselves on having incredible “friendors” across the event industry, within Chicago and beyond. These long-standing friendships and partnerships mean we can coordinate effortlessly behind the scenes, anticipate each other’s needs, and bring your vision to life seamlessly.
Q3: What sets your brand or business apart?
We’re women-owned and WBENC-certified, and we have the resources to bring your vision to life, no matter your budget or guest count. With a brick-and-mortar space, top-tier sound equipment, a dedicated crew of audio engineers, custom costuming, etc. — we’re more than just music. From dinosaur flash mobs to bespoke mixes, we’re here to create moments that stick around in hearts and minds long after your big day ends.
Q4: Who inspires you?
We’re inspired by people who bring energy, compassion, and bold creativity into everything they do. Artists like Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Stevie Wonder—icons whose music makes you *feel* something. It’s that heart, that willingness to take risks and push the envelope, that fuels our creativity and shapes how we design each event.
Q5: What big news do you want to share?
In 2026, our founder, Becca Kaufman, will be officially transitioning from her role as band leader of BKO to take on her new role as full-time Creative Director and CEO of BeatMix Music. It’s the end of an era, but also an exciting new chapter as she leads us forward, ensuring every event we create is as extraordinary as the last.
