Steppen To It

| June 28, 2011 | Parties

The Party: Steppenwolf’s Gala 2011 raised nearly $1 million for the theater’s artistic and community programming. The Scene: Co-chairs Carole Brown, Kenneth Porrello, Michael Salem and Stephanie Smith, along with lead sponsor Deloitte, welcomed more than 550 guests, including Mayor Rahm Emanuel, U.S. Senator Mark Kirk, City Treasurer Stephanie Neely and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. After a performance from the Hot L Baltimore cast at the theater, attendees were shuttled to Blackhawk on Halsted, where the 15,000-square-foot space was bedecked by Event Creative. Along with a cocktail reception and dinner by Food for Thought Catering, the evening featured an auction with prizes including private on-set visits for four to The Good Wife and Raising Hope. The Players: Steppenwolf ensemble members in attendance included James Vincent Meredith and Martha Plimpton; Steppenwolf co-founders Terry Kinney, Jeff Perry and Gary Sinise; and actors Josh Charles, Deanna Dunagan and Michael Shannon. The evening ended with live music by Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band as well as a late-night DJ set with Toast & Jam.
