For nearly 25 years, Gold Coast eatery Tavern on Rush has remained a staple in the local dining scene. Now, Stefani Restaurant Group’s iconic steak and seafood restaurant is reopening its doors with a refreshed space and enhanced food and beverage offerings.
Steps from the dining destination’s first location, the new 16,000-square-foot space—located on the first and second floors of Thompson Chicago—features a main dining room, a cocktail lounge, a bar, an outdoor patio and several private event spaces. Rich red accents, custom millwork, imported tile and the refurbished Tavern on Rush sign pay homage to the restaurant’s legacy.
“Our guests can anticipate the return of the same charm that has always been associated with the iconic Tavern on Rush, “ says owner Phil Stefani. “For generations, this restaurant has been a cornerstone of our community, a place that held so many memories. It’s a privilege to welcome back loyal patrons to experience a new chapter in our story while also inviting new patrons to make new memories together.”
The eatery’s culinary program, led by executive chef Michael ‘Wally’ Wallach, highlights USDA prime steaks, fresh seafood and housemade Stefani signature pasta dishes like wagyu ravioli. Menu offerings are complemented by a curated lineup of cocktails, including the Pineapple Express, the Oaxacan on Rush and the King Reaves—plus an extensive wine list. The restaurant will serve dinner daily and introduce breakfast, lunch and brunch menus in the weeks following the reopening.
Several of the eatery’s popular traditions are also being reinstated, including Ladies Night on Mondays, which is set to return this fall. Key team Benny Nadzaku is also resuming his role as maître d’, which will further his 40-year-long career with Stefani Restaurant Group.
Reservations will be available beginning Sept. 30, and private event inquiries can now be made on the website.
