THE PARTY After three years of planning on the part of the Women’s Board of Lyric Opera of Chicago, President Anne Reyes and Chair Susan Blankenbaker Noyes, this year’s Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Wine Auction raised an unprecedented $1.8 million in net proceeds. THE PLAYERS Richard Geoffroy, Dom Pérignon chef de cave, Lester and Renée Crown, Andrew and Joan McKenna, William and Cathy Osborn, Patrick and Shirley Ryan, Miles and Kim White, Tom Ricketts, Cindy Pritzker, Glenn and Jackie Tilton THE SCENE The evening began with a Dom Pérignon Champagne reception and silent auction featuring show-stopping lots of wine, bubbly and port in the Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Grand Foyer. Calihan Catering provided a seated dinner for the 480 guests on the mainstage of the Ardis Krainik Theatre in the historic Civic Opera House. Michael Davis and Leslie Hindman led a competitive live auction of 77 lots, including a $30,000 dinner in Charlie Trotter’s home, an $11,000 magnum of Dom Pérignon Rosé Oenotheque 1982 and a $36,000 London weekend and African safari. In total, 1,025 bottles and 61 luxury experiences were offered in the silent and live auctions, and nearly 500 bidders from around the world participated by phone and electronically.
