1. What motivated you to start your business?

I have always loved to do events and while working at a non-profit, people hired me on the side to do their weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, etc. after years of doing both - I realized my love was working with clients to bring their special day to life. I took the jump and opened The Creative Planners and never looked back.

2. Tell us what makes your business different from other wedding companies?

I think our clients say it best about us. We plan from joy and like to keep that in our planning so this can feel like an enjoyable process and not stressful to them. We become like part of the family – getting to really know our clients and learning about the story of them so we can bring those touches to the wedding. Creating a vision that is beyond what our clients imagined – we love to take our clients' vision and not just bring that to life but add some fun décor touches that go above and beyond so when they walk into the room we are all crying with happiness! One of our favorite moments of the wedding.

3. What is your best advice for engaged couples?

Well outside of hiring a planner – which is something I would say to everyone even if it is just for the day – but really feel a strong connection to your planner. We are planning one of their most important days of the year and you really want to love your planner and know they are there for you on all levels – from planning, creating and being there as a confident. By the time our brides walk down the aisle we get emotional watching this magical moment. Don’t panic – there is always a great band, photographer and vendors to make your day incredible. Enjoy this time and focus on one planning aspect at a time so you do not feel overwhelmed

4. What is your favorite trend for weddings currently?

Trend that we love right now:

  • Mixing linens and chairs but with a cohesive vision
  • Using music in fun ways – unique artists for ceremony, cocktails and diner
  • Have a post party – use the horns to guide guests to their next event
  • Creating elements of surprise and delight for guests but that reflect the bride and groom – bringing the story of them to the wedding

5. What would you like to be the new trend for weddings?

Smaller bridal party – we see this trend coming and will be so much more intimate for the ceremonies.

Bold moments - having that one bold moment that gives that pop at the wedding - with decor, entertainment or some fun element that has you guests say how fun is that!

6. What is one of the most unique elements you have seen in a wedding?

This year we have some fun ones – but here are a few we love to see! Having moments unveil through-out the wedding – adding moments of what I call surprise and delight but are reflective of the Bride and Groom. We get to know them over the planning together and bring their story to the wedding in various ways – some are subtle and others are more bold. For a bolder example: just did a wedding and both went to University together (as did many guests) so we coordinated bringing in the mascot to surprise the bride, groom and guests. If the bride or groom is musical, having them play or sing at their wedding – guests and family love it. One bride and groom loved books – we used that to incorporate in their escort wall and guest book – truly reflective of the bride and groom

7. What is the most gratifying part of your business?

Relationship we build with our clients. We are beyond blessed to have the nicest clients who refer nice people. By the time we come to the wedding, it is like a good break up – we are still friends but are no longer talking every day. When we see past clients its like seeing an old friend and the warm memories of such a special time we spent together creating a stunning wedding for them.
