The Glenrothes

Right along the River Spey in Rothes, Scotland sits The Glenrothes, a coveted icon among single malt Scotch distilleries. Since its founding in 1879, The Glenrothes has been making whisky quietly, and without compromise. Its rich and rounded, award-winning single malt is crafted by a community of whisky makers in a hands-on, no-frills distillery; craftspeople who remain respectful of tradition, yet ever-curious about what could be.

Each expression is meticulously crafted and aged on-site at The Glenrothes Estate and shares the same “Four Corners” – values that have guided The Glenrothes from its very beginnings: water that springs from its own source on the Estate used exclusively for production; an unusually slow distillation process that eliminates more impurities and allows for a more elegant tasting whisky; best-in-class sherry-seasoned casks first used by artisans near Jerez, Spain that are then assessed and repaired at The Glenrothes on-site cooperage, to ensure delicious flavor profiles crafted from European and American Oak; and lastly, natural color derived only from casks, never altered.

While The Glenrothes Distillery and Estate are open to visitors only by rare invitation, others curious enough to seek a dram of their own can enjoy a taste of The Glenrothes – at times, through experiences as rare and prized as a glimpse of the distillery itself.

One such experience can be found right here in Chicago. Throughout the month of October, The Glenrothes has joined with Torali at the Ritz-Carlton to curate an exclusive secret bites menu. Tastes of Chef Franco’s creations are served alongside complex, full and beautifully balanced Speyside single malt Scotch whisky pairings from The Glenrothes.

The pairings include:

• Salmon tartare, crème fraiche, caviar, chili oil, miso emulsion paired with The Glenrothes 18 Year Old

• Truffle duck confit arancini, rhubarb jam, red vein sorrel paired with The Glenrothes 25 Year Old

• Wagyu Beef Bresola, apricot mustarda, pickled asparagus, wagyu beef tallow brioche paired with The Glenrothes Whisky Maker’s Cut

Overlooking Chicago from its 12^th floor vista, Torali offers guests an experience that marries worlds old and new, just as The Glenrothes offers a taste of time-honored craft and tradition, now made and appreciated by a new generation.
