In the Loop

The Party
Illumination 2014 brought more than 500 guests to the Palmer House Hilton for an evening celebrating the past, present and future of the Chicago Loop Alliance Foundation, which promotes artistic and cultural events that help the city thrive.

The People
The evening kicked off in the Palmer House’s iconic Red Lacquer Room with live music from the Corbin Andrick Quartet and a performance by the ABJ Ray of Hope Youth Ensemble. Stilt walkers and hoop twirlers paraded around the Grand Ballroom throughout dinner, luring guests from their seats to snap photos of the unique spectacle. Later, in the spirit of the evening, CLA board chairman Martin Stern honored 42nd Ward Alderman Brendan Reilly with the 2014 Illumination Award for his community and civic service to the Chicago Loop-area businesses, residents and visitors. The event came to an elegant close with a decadent dessert lounge by chef Fabrice Bouet and dancing to live music by Michael Lerich and His Orchestra.

Best in Show
With the help of co-chairs Pamella Capitanini of Italian Village Restaurants and Dean Lane of the Palmer House Hilton, the gala raised over $110,000 in support of the foundation. Grand, indeed. –Photos by Steven E. Gross
