Burdeen’s Jewelry’s ultraexclusive A. Lange & Söhne Datograph in 18K rose gold is one of only two ever made.
Matt Burdeen, owner of Burdeen’s Jewelry, was celebrating the upcoming launch of his new Panerai, IWC and A. Lange & Söhne boutiques in the picturesque courtyard of the Waldorf Astoria when an idea struck. Over dinner at Margeaux Brasserie with Wilhelm Schmid, the CEO of A. Lange & Söhne, Burdeen commissioned a special watch for himself to commemorate the opening of the boutiques—quite a feat, given they only produce 4,500 timepieces per year. “When Wilhelm Schmid agreed to make a watch for me personally, I asked him to make one more to offer as our first piece available for purchase,” Burdeen says. The resulting Datograph in 18K rose gold with a factory-set baguette diamond bezel (of nearly flawless diamonds) is a true showstopper. In addition to the steady offering of coveted timepieces, Burdeen’s will host many private events in the new locations too. “The Waldorf is a fantastic association with our brand and the ones we represent,” Burdeen says. “It’s private yet opulent.” Price upon request, 11 E.
