| September 28, 2011 | Parties

THE PARTY The Governing Board of Directors of the 47th Chicago International Film Festival hosted a summer gala and screening of The Way, starring Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez (who also wrote and directed the film). THE SCENE Marked by Gov. Quinn’s proclamation of “Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez Day” (Aug. 19), the Chicago premiere was followed by a gala reception with cocktails and live entertainment at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers. THE BOTTOM LINE Proceeds benefitted educational outreach programs to promote media literacy among inner-city students and will also help fund the upcoming 47th Chicago International Film Festival, Oct. 6-20.
