Tell us what makes your business stand out?
At Weddings 826, we pride ourselves on making our brides feel at ease by providing a friendly and fun experience. Our stylists are not pushy at all, we treat our brides as our friends and are here to support them in every way we can. We also do alterations in house, so we have a lot of knowledge in what possibilities a bride has in customizing a dress. Lastly, we have our shop dog, Summer! A dog is never something you expect to see at a bridal shop, but she is so calm and helps our brides feel comfortable while trying on dresses!
What is the most gratifying part of your business?
Seeing brides through their whole process is amazing! We all build relationships with our brides. We see them from possibly the first time they ever put on a wedding dress to the moment they walk out the door with their altered dress the day of the wedding which can be a timeline of over a year. It is so heartwarming to see our brides so happy at their final fittings and hugging their original stylist who helped them say yes to the dress.
What is your best advice for engaged couples?
Start planning early so that it is less stressful in the long run. Shop around for venues, bands, etc so you don’t feel pressured to have to book something just because it’s available. Most importantly, enjoy the excitement of being engaged! It is so easy to just want to be married but being engaged has its own fun feeling and it will be over before you know it.
How far in advance should couples book your business?
To make an appointment with us, we usually book up a couple of weeks in advance for the weekends and are pretty open during the week. We say a bride should be picking out her dress 9-12 months before the wedding. It takes about 4-6 months for the dress to come in, but with shipping delays lately we like to play it safe and give a little wiggle room. Then alterations take about 2-3 months to complete.
What do you think is essential for any wedding?
Baby wipes, safety pins and a handheld steamer! The little things that no one thinks of are always good to have on hand. Bustles can be easy to break if someone steps in the dress at the wrong time, but it can be fixed with safety pins and no one will know. Bobby pins and hairspray are always good for not only the brides but the bridesmaids too. The most essential part though is lots of champagne and even more dancing!
