When a restaurant is named for its sweeping vistas, it better deliver. Fortunately for VU Rooftop Bar, its 22nd-story South Loop perch is perfect for taking in stunning views of the city. “Just physically walking into it is rather breathtaking,” says John Williams, who oversees the lounge’s beverage program. With summer in sight, the outdoor patio will open for the first time since VU’s launch. How better to enjoy it than with Williams’ choice selection of a 2013 Jean-Louis Chave L’Hermitage Rouge ($450) or a tangy, summery cocktail like the prosecco-spiked Vodka No. 2 ($15), made with VU’s exclusive Door County, Wis., cherry-infused vodka, orange liqueur and peach cordial?
