Brass Heart specializes in intricate vegan dishes like this aquafaba gnocchi
They say you can’t go back, but chefs Matthew Kerney and Gaetano Nardulli will come pretty close with a standout collaboration dinner this month at Brass Heart. As the fine-dining establishment known for its all-vegan tasting menus (and omnivorous counterparts) rounds the corner past its first year in Uptown, it has expanded into abbreviated tasting menus and eclectic dining experiences, with the latest tapping Kerney’s fellow Schwa alum Nardulli for an old-world vs. new-world showdown. “Gaetano and I have worked together really well, ever since back in the day at Schwa,” Kerney says. “I’m excited to finally do a collaboration with him where we get to meld our minds together again and make some great food.” The 12-course dinner will feature six dishes from each chef, with Nardulli drawing on his love of traditional Italian cuisine to contrast with Kerney’s newfangled techniques. For one night only, it’s the best of both worlds. Oct. 2, $185 per person, 4662 N. Broadway, 773.564.9680
