Uche & Clinton: A Perfect Match

Anna Dunn Anna Dunn | December 28, 2021 | Wedding Features

After a stint on reality TV, one couple answers the burning question: Are you the one?

REALITY TV dating success stories are few and far between, but Uche Nwosu and Clinton Moxam beat the odds when they found love on the sixth season of MTV’s Are You the One? in New Orleans. Despite the Truth Booth revealing them not a “perfect match” (at least by the show’s algorithm), Uche and Clinton, who now call Los Angeles home, fell hard for each other. “Clinton was actually the very last person I spoke to [the first day],” Uche shares. “We ended up talking for hours. … The way it seemed like, in a moment, we went from strangers to best friends is still so crazy to me.”

In June 2020, almost three years after the season premiered, Clinton proposed to Uche on the beach in Malibu. “I told Uche I was taking her on some kind of picnic or outing just to get out of the house since we’d literally been in lockdown for months,” Clinton says. Uche’s mom flew out from Chicago for the big moment, and Clinton popped the question while overlooking the water. “Easiest ‘yes’ of my life!” Uche shares.

Fifteen months later, the couple tied the knot in stunning fashion at the Palmer House Hilton. “The second we walked into the Palmer House, we were sold,” Uche says. “There is so much history. … I feel like it’s the heart of Chicago at its finest—not to mention, absolutely stunning.” Uche and Clinton teamed up with Beth Helmstetter Events to bring their “timeless and romantic but still unique and chic” vision to life. “Beth was able to create the perfect balance of dreamy and trendy, and I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out,” Uche shares. The couple honored their Nigerian and Jamaican roots in a special ceremony earlier in the week before their formal ceremony. “Hearing Clinton’s vows, it really felt like it was just me and him in the room—hands down the best moment in my life,” Uche adds. They also performed a meaningful ringwarming ceremony, where loved ones touched and blessed their rings ahead of their new life together.

“Chicago is such an important, influential city in my life,” shares the bride, “and throughout our time together, Clinton has been able to spend a significant amount of time in the city and fall in love with it as well.”
