Growing up in an Armenian family in Indiana, first-generation American Lisa Gasparian initially pursued the study of medicine with the plan of becoming a doctor—but ultimately she decided that there was a sweeter path in store for her. After years as a corporate consultant, she pursued her entrepreneurial dreams and opened the first Chicago location of boutique French franchise Amorino Gelato. Now, after overcoming some pandemic-induced challenges, she has rebranded as Café Crèmerie (615 N. State St.) and moved into a charming Tree Studios space in River North, serving up gelato plus pastries and assorted other sweets and savories.
