Yanni Design Studio's Sylwia Spirala weighs in on what's hot in wedding decor.
Florals and decor set the vibe and serve as the jumping-off point for an aesthetic vision that can carry through the invitation suite, cake and even fashion for the big day. So, what’s in for the coming wedding season? “We’re seeing varying levels of texture,” says Sylwia Spirala, senior event designer at Yanni Design Studio (yannidesignstudio.com). “Brides have been incorporating unique florals, greenery and even fruits into their arrangements to introduce a variety of textures. Classic round designs are out; this season is all about texture and asymmetrical design.” As for color, the moodier, the better. “Soft whites and greenery are taking a back seat,” Spirala says. “Couples have been incorporating darker, richer color palettes into their wedding days.” Candles up the moody vibe, and Yanni has unique ways of using them. “One of our signature styles mimics a Champagne flute with a votive in water,” Spirala says. “It’s a stunning way to add dimension to the table.”
